Okay, here’s my take on customizing my Goldwing, written in the style of a casual, personal blog post:
So, I finally took the plunge and started messing with my Goldwing. I’ve had this bike for a while now, and it’s an amazing machine, don’t get me wrong. But, it just felt… I don’t know… a little too standard. Like every other Goldwing on the road. I wanted it to feel more mine, you know?
My first step was all about comfort. Those long rides are awesome, but the stock seat? Not so much after a few hours. I swapped it out for an aftermarket seat. BIG difference! I went with one that had extra padding and better back support. Man, I wish I’d done that sooner.
Making it sound better
- I wanted a better sound.
- Not just loud, but a deeper, throatier rumble.
Next up was the sound. The stock exhaust is fine, it’s just… polite. I wanted something with a bit more growl. After looking around for a good deal, I found a good set of slip-on mufflers. I installed them. It wasn’t too tricky – just a few bolts and a bit of wiggling. Started her up, and boom! That’s the sound I was looking for. Not obnoxiously loud, but definitely more presence.
More storage, more better
- Extra saddlebags.
- Top box.
Storage was next on my list. I do a lot of weekend trips, and while the Goldwing has decent storage, I always felt like I needed just a bit more. I went through a few different setups before I was happy with this one. I decided to find some extra storage. Now I can pack everything I need without having to strap stuff to the passenger seat.
Finally, I added a few little personal touches. I’m pretty happy with how it’s turned out. It’s still the comfortable, reliable Goldwing I love, but now it feels like my Goldwing. I love the way it turned out.
