Okay, so I’ve been hunting for a Suzuki 500 for a while now. It’s a classic, you know? And I finally decided to take the plunge and get one. First thing I did was hit up the internet.

I started browsing through different websites. Car Classic seemed like a good place to start, they claimed to have a huge collection of classics in Europe. Then I checked out some local sites like MotoScout24 and AutoScout24, just to see what was available in Switzerland. Also, I looked into the parking motorcycles website where there seemed to be quite a few listings. And of course, eBay was on my list too, hoping to snag a good deal there.

I found a few interesting options. There was this Suzuki GS 500 F from 2008, looked to be in pretty good shape with only about 22,300 km on it. The seller mentioned the tires and brakes were okay, and they had just done an oil change. The price was mentioned as CHF1, seems like a good bargain. Then there were a couple of Suzuki RM 500s on a website called “the parking motorcycles”. One had 71 listings and another specific to Switzerland had 2. I even stumbled upon a rare Suzuki T 500 Cobra, a first-series from a second owner. It was a beauty, mostly original and well-maintained. Looked super elegant and classic.

After looking at all these options, I made a list of pros and cons for each one. Some were in better condition than others, some were closer, and some were just way out of my budget. It was a tough choice, honestly. I spent days going back and forth, comparing specs, prices, and locations. The GS 500 F seemed like the most practical option, but that T 500 Cobra was just so tempting because of its rarity.

Finally, I decided to go for the Suzuki GS 500 F. It made the most sense for me. I contacted the seller, asked a bunch of questions, and even negotiated a little on the price. We set up a meeting, and I went to check out the bike in person. I looked it over, took it for a test ride, and it felt great. It had a little bit of wear, sure, but nothing major for its age. So, I went ahead and bought it!

  • Started my search online on various websites.
  • Found several potential options, including a GS 500 F and a rare T 500 Cobra.
  • Compared the options based on condition, price, and location.
  • Decided on the GS 500 F and contacted the seller.
  • Inspected the bike, took it for a test ride, and finalized the purchase.

Getting this Suzuki 500 was a bit of a journey. Lots of searching, comparing, and deciding. But in the end, I’m happy with my choice. It’s a great bike, and I’m looking forward to many rides on it. This whole experience taught me a lot about buying used motorcycles, and I hope my story helps someone else out there who’s looking for their own classic ride.
