So, I had this thing I wanted to do with the “Howard Denver” mission in the Spider-Man game. I’d heard about it after finishing that Science Buddy mission. Apparently, it pops up in the Financial District, right on the southern tip of Manhattan. I was like, “Alright, let’s give this a shot.”
I swung over there, and found this guy Howard, just chilling on some steps near the dock. I remembered him from the first game, you know, the pigeon guy? Kinda cool to see him again.
Starting the Mission
I talked to him and we got this whole thing going where I had to find his pigeons. I started looking around, following the markers. Then I realized this was more than just a pigeon hunt. I got to know Howard, learned about his deal. It felt pretty rewarding, like I was making a real difference in his life.
Then I got distracted
While I was doing all this, I remembered a song called “Amazing Journey” from The Who. It got me thinking about their documentary, also called “Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who.” It’s this epic thing about their history, going back four decades. I started humming the tune, and it kinda fit the whole vibe of what I was doing in the game.
Getting back to it
I snapped back to the mission, located all the pigeons, and finished it up. It was more than just another side quest. It was like a mini-story within the game, and I felt good about helping Howard out.

After that, I spent some time reading about “Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who.” I remembered it’s directed by Murray Lerner, with help from Paul Crowder. It’s like, this deep dive into The Who’s music and their impact. I found a playlist, too: “Leaving Here,” “My Generation,” “Pinball Wizard,” and all those classics. It was like, a journey in itself. I even spent time reading the lyrics of “Amazing Journey,” and it’s all about a “deaf, dumb, and blind boy.”
