Man, I’ve been super busy lately and just wanted some fast dinners without slaving in the kitchen. Saw Butcher Boy meats at the store last weekend and grabbed a few packs thinking “these gotta be quick-cook”. Here’s how it went down:
What I Bought
First things first – hit up the grocery after work Tuesday. Grabbed:
- Pre-seasoned fajita chicken strips (looked foolproof)
- Ground beef with that 80/20 fat ratio
- Italian sausage links coz they smelled amazing
Meal 1: Dump-and-Stir Fajitas
Wednesday night was ZERO energy. Tore open that fajita pack, threw chicken in my hottest skillet with half a sliced onion. Heard that awesome sizzle! While it cooked, microwaved some store tortillas. Total cheat meal – dumped everything on a plate with store salsa. Tasted better than my usual overcooked chicken disasters. Whole thing took maybe 12 minutes start to finish. Dirty secret? Ate straight from the pan.
Meal 2: Lazy Beef Pasta
Thursday tried the ground beef. Boiled spaghetti first – salted that water like the sea. Browned beef in another pot while pasta cooked, broke it up with my wooden spoon until crumbly. Drained pasta, saved some starchy water. Mixed everything together with jarred marinara and a scoop of that pasta water. Instant creamy texture! Topped with cheap parmesan. Felt fancier than it was – maybe 20 minute meal.
Meal 3: Sausage Pan-Fry Fail & Save
Friday disaster incoming. Poked sausages with fork thinking “juices need to escape!” BIG mistake. Fried them nice and crispy… then bit in and whoosh – grease fountain. Lesson learned? Don’t poke holes! Saved it by slicing sausage thin over rice, drenched in sriracha. Still edible but messy. Stick to cooking whole next time.
Overall? Butcher Boy stuff is legit for lazy nights. Won’t win cooking shows but beats delivery. Biggest takeaway – premade seasonings save stupid amounts of time. Gonna try their pork chops next week!
