Sims 4 Age Up Horses How To Guide Simple Steps for Growing Foals

So I spent like two hours yesterday messing with horses in my Sims 4 save, trying to figure out how the heck to make my tiny little foal actually grow up. Feels like they kinda hid the option, you know? Let me tell you exactly how I stumbled through it, step by painful step.

Sims 4 Age Up Horses How To Guide Simple Steps for Growing Foals

The Confusion Stage (Yeah, It Happened)

First off, I totally forgot you gotta have a newborn foal first. Rookie mistake, right? Went into my game, made sure my Sim owned an adult horse. Then I just sat there staring at the adult horse in the stable. Clicked on it like fifty times, looking for some “Have Baby” option or something. Nada. Zip. Felt kinda stupid. Realized I actually had to go into the household management thing – you know, where you edit families? Selected my Sim family, saw their adult horse listed, and finally spotted the little plus sign icon near the horse’s picture. That’s where the “Plan Pregnancy” option was hiding. Felt like finding a secret button.

Okay, so I got my Sim’s horse pregnant. Cool. Then I basically fast-forwarded time and waited. And waited. Finally, the notification popped up: “Horse is giving birth!” Zoomed over to the stable, and yep – there’s this super tiny, ridiculously cute foal wobbling around its mama. Awesome! Now what?

The Clicking-Frantically Stage

Here’s where it got annoying. I clicked on the newborn foal. Options popped up: “Pet”, “Check Wellbeing”, all that basic stuff. But nothing about aging up. Seriously? Clicked on the mama horse – same basic stuff. Went back to the foal. Right-clicked. Scrolled through menus. Tried the “Care For” options. Still nothing obvious saying “Make This Thing Grow Up”. Kept clicking randomly like an idiot.

Then, purely by accident, my cursor hovered over the foal’s profile picture in the bottom left corner (the one in the needs panel). That little icon? Right there! I saw the actual words “Age Up Baby” appear in small text when I hovered. Oh, come on! Why is it buried down there? Feels kinda stupid that you don’t click on the actual animal in the world. Anyways, I clicked the foal’s little profile icon itself, not the buttons next to it. Boom! The “Age Up Baby” option finally showed up in the interaction panel that popped out. Relief!

The Actual Doing It Stage

Clicking “Age Up Baby” didn’t cost anything – no Simoleons needed, which was surprising. A quick little animation played, the camera focused on the foal, and poof! It grew into an adult horse right before my Sim’s eyes. It was actually pretty smooth once I knew where to click. Took like 5 seconds. That was it!

So after wasting all that time clicking on the actual animal in the stable, here’s the stupid-simple process I actually used:

  • Get a foal first (gotta plan a pregnancy via household management).
  • Wait for the darn thing to be born.
  • FORGET clicking on the foal itself. Trust me, I tried.
  • Look at the very bottom left of your screen for the foal’s tiny portrait icon.
  • CLICK DIRECTLY ON THAT LITTLE ICON.
  • Find “Age Up Baby” in the panel that pops up.
  • Click it. Done.

Honestly, it feels backwards that you age up horses through their UI icon instead of interacting with them like Sims or babies. Took me way longer than it should’ve! But hey, now I know. Next time? Straight to the tiny icon.
