Hey guys, so I’ve been messing around with F1 2013 lately, and I wanted to share a bit about my experience with the HRT Cosworth team. Man, what a ride it’s been!
First off, I started digging into the history of the team. I found out that HRT, which used to be called Campos Meta 1 and Hispania Racing, was a Spanish team. The team was started by a former driver, Adrin Campos. Later, it got sold to some guy named Jos Ramn Carabante before it even debuted in 2010. It’s kind of sad because they never found a buyer in time. That was it for them, I think.
I also learned that they entered 58 Grands Prix in three seasons. That’s a lot of races!
Then I moved on to the engine stuff. Cosworth, the company that made the engines for HRT and Marussia, was apparently up for sale. There was a lot of talk about whether HRT could keep using Cosworth engines for the 2013 season. HRT’s team boss, Luis Perez-Sala, seemed pretty keen on keeping them. I guess he really wanted those engines, huh?

- Found out that Luis Perez-Sala wanted to keep the Cosworth engines.
So, I tried to simulate the 2013 season with HRT running Cosworth engines. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. Trying to imagine how they would perform was a real challenge. There were all these uncertainties, especially since they didn’t even make it to 2013 in real life. But I gave it my best shot, trying to make it as realistic as possible based on what I had read.
The Simulation
In my simulation, I had to make a lot of guesses. Like, how fast would they be? How would they handle different tracks? Who would they be competing against? It was tough, but I enjoyed the challenge. I played through race after race, trying different settings to get them to perform well and keep those Cosworth engines roaring.
Finally, after all that tinkering, I managed to get a setup that I felt was pretty good. It wasn’t perfect, but it felt like a decent representation of what HRT might have been like with Cosworth engines in 2013. It was a fun experiment, even though it was just a game. I can only imagine how hard it must have been for the real team dealing with all those challenges.
