Man, Black Ops 6 dropped today and I dove in headfirst like everyone else, right? I was pumped, pre-ordered months ago. But then… the main menu hit me.

First thing I saw? Complete sensory overload. They weren’t kidding about “new interface”. Icons everywhere, flashing things in corners, layers upon layers of stuff. My eyes kinda glazed over for a second, honestly. It felt messy.
The Initial Confusion Struggle
So I just started jabbing buttons. Pushing ‘A’ on Xbox. Moving the stick around randomly. That got me into a mode called ‘Omniplayer’ apparently. No clue what that was! Still don’t, really. Backed out fast. Tried hitting ‘RB’ – suddenly I’m in the Store section looking at some pricey skins. Nope, not doing that today!
Finding the Basic Stuff
Right, time to actually learn this mess. I started slow:
- Look for familiar stuff: Scanned the edges like playing Where’s Waldo. Took me a minute, but the big green ‘Multiplayer’ button was way off to the bottom right? Why put it down there? Weird. Tried it – yep, classic lobbies.
- ‘Zombies’ took even longer. Tiny skull icon tucked in under the news feed thing up top? Took me three passes to spot it. Had to move the cursor right to the top edge.
- Settings? Oh man, the gear icon. Found it eventually buried under this weird social panel icon on the left. Why make the settings hard to find? That’s the one place everyone needs!
- ‘Skins Lab’ whatever that is? Front and center, bright shiny button. Of course it is.
The Real Problem – Tabs Within Tabs
Okay, finding the main modes was hard enough. But then I clicked into Multiplayer. Holy. Crap. Another whole new screen crammed with MORE icons! This one had tabs! You gotta press LB/RB to flip between things like Play modes, Friends list, Barracks, Events… it’s just layer after layer.
Felt like digging through spaghetti code. Trying to find the simple ‘Create a Class’? It wasn’t labeled “Create a Class”! Had to go into ‘Barracks’, then there’s another sub-tab called ‘Loadouts’. Why not just say “Guns” like before? Seriously.

My Patience Wearing Thin
I swear, I was just trying to join a standard Team Deathmatch. Simple stuff. Ended up:
- Hitting Multiplayer
- Navigating to a Play tab
- Scrolling down a giant list of playlists
- Almost clicked ‘Invasion’ (no idea what that is)
- Finally found TDM halfway down.
Whole process took like literally fifteen minutes just to find how to start shooting people. Not smooth at all. Feels clunky.
And don’t get me started about trying to party up with a buddy. Whole different set of confusing overlays popping up over parts of the screen. I accidentally backed out twice trying to accept his invite.
The Unexpected Real-World Chaos
Then… the game froze hard. Screen went blank. Error message popped up: “Lost connection to server.” Seriously? Just… perfect timing. Tried rebooting, nada. Restarted my router like a chump, still nothing.
So what happens? I get booted all the way back to the main system dashboard. Tried logging back in. Still stuck. Ended up wasting like forty minutes in total just fighting the menus and server issues.

You know what this frustration reminded me of? When my vaccine certificate QR code just straight-up wouldn’t load at the airport a while back. That awful sinking feeling, like “Okay, system, don’t fail me now!”. Standing there holding up the line, sweating, fumbling with my phone reloading the app, the screen buffer wheel spinning, watching people push past… total nightmare fuel. Tech making life needlessly difficult, same damn vibe.
Eventually the game came back online, maybe. But by that point? I was just tired. Clicked out and decided to try again tomorrow. Maybe it’ll sink in after sleeping on it.
Long story short: The BO6 menus are… a lot. Takes way too many steps to do basic stuff. Feels cluttered and confusing. Takes patience. Good luck out there!
