Alright, so lemme tell you about this “nashville half head man” thing I messed around with. Saw some buzz about it online and figured, why not give it a shot?

The Idea

Basically, it’s a haircut thing. Some kinda fading technique mixed with textured top. Looked cool in the pics, kinda like a modern take on something classic. I’m no hairstylist, but I’m game to try anything once.

Tools of the Trade (aka My Bathroom Counter)

  • My trusty clippers (the ones I usually use for a buzzcut, nothing fancy)
  • Some scissors (not professional ones, just regular craft scissors, don’t judge)
  • A comb (essential!)
  • A mirror (duh)
  • A spray bottle with water (for dampening the hair)

The Execution (aka The Hack Job)

Okay, so first thing I did was wet my hair. Not soaking wet, just damp enough to work with. Then, I started with the sides and back, using the clippers with a guard. I went for a fade, but honestly, it was more like a gradual decrease in length. Not perfect, but hey, I’m learning!

Next up was the top. This is where it got tricky. I wanted to keep some length and texture, so I used the scissors (yep, the craft scissors) to point cut. That basically means holding the scissors vertically and snipping into the ends of the hair to create a choppy, textured look. Did I succeed? Jury’s still out.

I spent a good hour fiddling with it, trying to even things out and make it look somewhat presentable. There were definitely some uneven spots and some patches that were shorter than others. But overall, it wasn’t a complete disaster.

The Result (aka The Moment of Truth)

After I was “done,” I blow-dried my hair and added some product (some cheap gel I found in the back of the cabinet). It actually looked…okay. Not exactly salon-worthy, but definitely passable. I wouldn’t go to a fancy event with it, but for everyday wear, it’s not bad.

The Verdict (aka Would I Do It Again?)

Probably not. It was fun to try, and I learned a few things about cutting hair. But I think I’ll stick to my barber from now on. They can do a much better job, and they have the right tools. But hey, at least I can say I tried! And maybe, just maybe, I saved myself a few bucks.

Final Thoughts: Don’t be afraid to experiment with your hair. It grows back! Just don’t expect professional results if you’re doing it yourself. And maybe invest in some better scissors if you’re serious about it.
