Okay, so let’s talk about this whole “Tom Leary MMA” thing.
I gotta say, I was browsing around, trying to find something interesting to do, and stumbled upon this name, Tom Leary. Then I saw “MMA” next to it, and my curiosity was piqued. I mean, I’ve dabbled in watching some fights, you know, the big ones with Georges St-Pierre – that guy was a beast, a legend! But Tom Leary? Never heard of him. So I did what any normal person would do – I started digging.
First, I hit up Facebook. Figured there had to be something there, right? And sure enough, I found a profile. It looks like this guy is into a bunch of different stuff. He’s a pianist, a composer, and a teacher, according to some blog I found about him. He posts about piano, improvisation, and the jazz tradition. Not exactly what I expected from someone with “MMA” in their name, but hey, people have layers!
I kept scrolling, reading comments on his posts, and found some mentions about jazz music and his album, which dropped in 2019. It’s called “You Are Here”, from some group called Birdcode that he’s apparently in with some singer named Amber deLaurentis. Sounds interesting enough, I might check it out later. But still, no MMA.
Then I went down this rabbit hole of music sites and apps, looking for his music. I found some songs and videos, but nothing about fighting. This was getting weird. Was I missing something? Was the “MMA” part just a big misunderstanding?
Getting Deeper
I decided to change tactics. I looked up some stuff about MMA in general, just to see if his name would pop up. I found out about this crazy fighter named Travis Fulton, who has, like, over 300 fights! That’s insane! But still, no Tom Leary.
I even checked out some local league information, like the Tasmanian State League’s Team of the Year for 2024. Nada. No Tom Leary in sight.
So, here’s where I’m at. This Tom Leary guy is a mystery. He’s definitely a musician, and a pretty good one from what I can tell. But the MMA connection? Still a big question mark. It’s possible he’s just a fan, or maybe he trains for fun. Or maybe it’s a totally different Tom Leary! Who knows?
