Alright, so I recently got back from a Mesquite golf package, and a few folks asked how it went. Figured I’d jot down my experience, you know, for the record. It’s always good to look back on these things.

Finding the Deal and Making the Call
I’d been itching to get some rounds in, somewhere new, but not too crazy far. Heard about Mesquite from a buddy, said it was decent for golf and not too pricey. So, I started looking online, just browsing around. Found this package deal that seemed okay – couple nights’ stay, few rounds of golf. No frills, just what I was looking for, really. The booking process was pretty straightforward, surprisingly. Called a number, talked to a person, gave my dates, and boom, sorted. They bundled the hotel and tee times together, which made it easy.
Getting There and First Impressions
The drive out to Mesquite was, well, a drive. Put on some music, watched the scenery change. Nevada desert, you know? Got into town, and it’s pretty much what you’d expect: a smaller spot, a few casinos dominate the skyline. Not Vegas, but it’s got that vibe. Checked into the hotel they booked for me. It was… a hotel. Clean enough, bed was comfy, that’s all I really cared about. It wasn’t the Ritz, but for a golf trip, it did the job. Dumped my bags, got my clubs ready for the next day. The air was dry, real dry.
The Golf – Day by Day
This is what I came for, right? The golf. They had me set up at a couple of different courses.
- First Course – The Canyon View (let’s call it that): This one was pretty scenic. Lots of elevation changes, which always messes with my club selection. My drives were a bit wild the first few holes, always takes me a bit to settle in on a new course. The greens were fast, or at least faster than what I’m used to. Shot an okay score, nothing to brag about, but enjoyed the challenge. The fairways were in decent shape, I’ll give them that. Definitely lost a few balls in those desert scapes off the fairway.
- Second Course – The Oasis Palmer (think that was the name): This one felt a bit more, I don’t know, established? More palm trees, wider fairways in some spots, which was a relief after the day before. I actually played a bit better here. My irons were feeling good, and I even sank a couple of decent putts. Weather was perfect, sunny but not scorching hot yet. Saw a roadrunner zip across the fairway, which was kind of neat. This course felt a little more forgiving, but still had its tricky spots.
Overall, the courses were enjoyable. Well-maintained for the most part. The pace of play wasn’t too bad either, which is always a bonus. You go on these trips, and sometimes you’re stuck waiting on every shot, but this was pretty smooth.
Hotel and Food – The Other Stuff
Like I said, the hotel was basic but fine. Part of the package, so I wasn’t expecting luxury. It had a little coffee shop, grabbed breakfast there. For dinner, I mostly just hit up the casino buffets or one of their casual restaurants. The food was… casino food. You get a lot of it, it’s not gourmet, but it fills you up after a long day on the course. Didn’t win any money at the slots, by the way. Shocker, right?

So, Was It Worth It?
Yeah, I’d say so. For a quick golf getaway, Mesquite delivered. The package made it simple, the golf was good, and it didn’t break the bank. It’s not a fancy, high-end golf destination in my book, but if you’re looking for solid courses and a straightforward trip, it’s a good option. I got to work on my game, which was the main thing. My short game still needs a lot of work, always does. But hitting a few good shots each day, that’s what keeps you coming back. Would I do another Mesquite golf package? Probably. It’s an easy trip to plan, and sometimes, easy is exactly what you need.
