So, I’ve been kinda obsessed with these Porsche race cars lately, you know, trying to figure out who’s who in their driver lineups, especially for those big endurance races. And this one name, Kévin Estre, just kept jumping out at me. It got me thinking, ‘Alright, what’s the deal with this guy? Why’s his name popping up so much whenever Porsche is in the conversation?’ So, I decided to do my own little digging, my own ‘practice session’ at getting to know his story, and here’s what I basically pieced together from my end.

My first step was just to see how long he’s been in the game with Porsche. Turns out, he’s been a Porsche works driver since 2016. That’s a good chunk of time, you know? It’s not like they just hand those seats out to anyone. Shows they really believe in him. Before that, he even had a quick run with McLaren as a works driver. So, he’s been around high-level stuff for a while.
Checking Out the Wins
Then I started looking at what he’s actually done on the track. And man, this is where it gets pretty impressive. He’s not just making up the numbers. This guy wins, and he wins big ones. Here’s some of what I found that really stood out to me:
- He nailed the Le Mans 24 Hours in the GT Pro class back in 2018. That’s a monster achievement.
- Then, in 2019, he went and won the Spa 24 Hours. Another huge endurance race.
- And just to add to it, he conquered the Nürburgring 24 Hours in 2021. That track is just plain scary.
So, when I saw that list, I was like, okay, this guy is seriously talented. Winning those three, those are some of the biggest 24-hour races you can get.
So, what’s he up to now? Well, from what I gathered, he’s still right in the thick of it. He’s driving for Porsche Penske Motorsport, which is their top-tier team. He’s in the No. 6 Porsche 963, that fancy new car, racing in the World Endurance Championship. And get this, he’s teamed up with guys like Laurens Vanthoor. That’s a seriously strong crew in one car.
But here’s the kicker, the thing that really got my attention after digging through all this. Even with all those massive wins, the word is he’s still super focused on getting that overall win at Le Mans. Not just a class win, but the whole thing. You gotta respect that kind of drive. It shows he’s not just resting on what he’s already done. He’s pushing for more. And in a race like Le Mans, well, anything can happen, but it sounds like he’s putting in the work to be ready for it.

So yeah, that’s pretty much my journey of figuring out Kévin Estre. It started with just a name I kept seeing, and then as I looked into his ‘practice record’ on the track, the picture got a lot clearer. Definitely a driver I’m going to be keeping an eye on from now on. It’s cool when you just follow a bit of curiosity and end up learning about someone doing amazing stuff.
