Famous Former Dortmund Players: A Complete List

Okay, so yesterday I was thinking about players who used to tear it up for Dortmund, right? Guys who were amazing there and then moved on. I wanted to see where they are now, what they’re up to. So, I started digging.

Famous Former Dortmund Players: A Complete List

First thing I did was fire up Google. I typed in “former dortmund players,” pretty straightforward. Got a bunch of lists and articles. I started clicking through them, looking for familiar names. It was a bit of a rabbit hole, jumping from one player to another.

I remembered Mario Götze, that kid was a sensation! I checked up on him, found out he’s back at Dortmund after a spell at PSV. Crazy how things come full circle, huh?

Next, I thought of Robert Lewandowski. Obvious one, I know, but still. I mean, the guy was a goal machine there. Easy to find out he went to Bayern, then Barcelona, still banging in goals like it’s nothing.

Then, it got a bit more interesting. I tried to recall some names that weren’t as obvious. Shinji Kagawa popped into my head. What happened to him? I googled him and found out he bounced around a bit after Dortmund – Man U, back to Dortmund, then Spain, Greece, and now he’s playing in Japan. Wow, quite the journey!

I spent a good hour or two just clicking through different lists and articles, finding out where these guys ended up. Some are still playing, some are coaching, and some have completely disappeared from the football radar.

Famous Former Dortmund Players: A Complete List

To keep track of everyone, I opened a simple text file and started writing down names and a quick note about where they are now. Nothing fancy, just a quick reference for myself.

  • Götze: Back at Dortmund
  • Lewandowski: Barcelona
  • Kagawa: Cerezo Osaka (Japan)

I kept digging, found some more names like Ilkay Gündoğan(Manchester City). It was cool seeing how their careers progressed (or didn’t) after leaving Dortmund.

Finally, I decided to stop. It was getting late, and I had a decent list. I saved the text file, feeling like I’d learned something new about these players’ journeys. It was a fun little project, just a simple way to satisfy my curiosity about the past.
