Alright, so today I’m gonna walk you through my experience messing around with Conor Zilisch. I’m no pro, just a guy who likes to tinker and see what happens, so this is more of a “what I did and what I learned” kinda thing.

Conor Zilischs journey: From local fields to soccer fame.

First off, who’s Conor Zilisch? Well, from what I gathered, he’s a pretty solid quarterback. I was interested in analyzing some game footage and stats just to see how he stacks up. No big scientific study, just a personal deep dive.

So, I started by hunting down game footage. This was a pain, honestly. ESPN clips, random YouTube videos – it was all over the place. I managed to cobble together a decent amount of footage showing Zilisch in action. Basically, I spent like two hours scouring the internet.

Next, I started breaking down the footage. I literally just used VLC player, pausing and rewinding a million times. I was looking at stuff like:

  • His throwing motion – release point, arm angle, all that jazz.
  • Decision-making – who he was targeting, when he was throwing, did he make the right call?
  • Pocket presence – how well did he handle pressure? Did he scramble effectively?

I know, pretty basic stuff, but I’m not trying to be a scout here. I jotted down notes on a notepad, nothing fancy.

Then came the stats. I spent time looking at completion percentages, yards per attempt, touchdown-to-interception ratio, all the standard stuff. Finding reliable stats was also a bit of a challenge, but I pieced it together from a few different sources.

What did I find? Okay, so this is just my opinion based on what I saw. I wouldn’t bet the farm on it, but here’s the gist:

Zilisch has a strong arm, no doubt. He can sling it pretty far. But, sometimes his accuracy seemed to waver a bit, especially on longer throws. His decision-making looked pretty good for the most part, but there were a few throws where I was scratching my head. Pocket presence seemed decent, but he definitely looked more comfortable when he had a clean pocket.

Challenges I ran into:

  • Finding reliable footage and stats. Seriously, the internet is a mess.
  • Objectivity. It’s tough to watch someone and not have your biases creep in. I tried to be as fair as possible.
  • Time. This took way longer than I thought it would. Seriously, a good chunk of my weekend was gone.

What I learned:

Analyzing a player, even at a basic level, is a lot more work than it looks. I gained a newfound respect for the guys who do this for a living. I also learned a bit more about what to look for in a quarterback. Before, I just watched the games and rooted for my team. Now, I have a better understanding of the nuances of the position.

Would I do it again? Probably. It was a fun little project, and I learned something in the process. Maybe next time I’ll try to focus on something a little more specific, like his performance in the red zone or his ability to read defenses.

So yeah, that’s my Conor Zilisch deep dive. Nothing earth-shattering, but a fun way to spend a weekend. Maybe it’ll inspire you to do your own little analysis. Who knows what you might find?
