The Navidson Record: Explore the Strange Story (Movie&Book).

Okay, so today I messed around with this “Navidson Record” thing. It sounded kinda cool, like a weird, experimental film or something, so I figured, why not?

The Navidson Record: Explore the Strange Story (Movie&Book).

First, I tried to figure out what it even was. I did some digging, just general searching, you know? Turns out it’s tied to this book, House of Leaves. I’ve heard of it, super creepy, supposed to mess with your head.

So, I started by looking for any kind of video or audio related to the Navidson Record. I figured there’d be fan-made stuff, maybe some official clips, who knows.

  • Checked out some forums. Lots of talk, but not much actual content to watch or listen to. People mostly just arguing about the book.
  • Tried a few video sites. Found some stuff that claimed to be related, but it was mostly just, like, creepy music and random images. Not very satisfying.

Getting My Hands Dirty

Since I couldn’t find a ready-made “Navidson Record” experience, I decided to make my own. I mean, that’s the spirit of the thing, right? It’s all about exploring this weird, unsettling space.

I grabbed my camera, just a basic one, nothing fancy. I started filming random stuff around my house. The hallway, a flickering lightbulb, the shadows in the corner of my room. Stuff that felt a little…off.

Then I messed with the footage. I slowed it down, sped it up, added some weird filters. I even layered some sounds – creaking doors, whispers, just stuff I found online.

The whole point was to create something that felt…uncomfortable. Like something you’d see in a dream, or maybe a nightmare. You know, that feeling where things are just slightly wrong, and you can’t quite put your finger on why.

The Result?

Honestly, it’s pretty rough. It’s not exactly a masterpiece, but it was a fun experiment. It definitely captured that unsettling vibe I was going for. It felt like a little glimpse into something…else. A bit chaotic, a bit creepy, and definitely not something you’d show your grandma.

I think the main takeaway is that the “Navidson Record” isn’t really about a specific thing. It’s more about an experience. It’s about that feeling of unease and exploration. And you can kind of create that yourself, with whatever tools you have. It has the effect of the uncanny valley.

So, yeah, that was my day with the Navidson Record. Kinda weird, kinda fun, and definitely something I might mess with again sometime.
