Okay, so today I decided to tackle this whole “stop the games” thing. You know, like, really cut out the distractions and get stuff done. I’ve been feeling super scattered lately, so I figured it was time for a change.

First thing I did was turn off my phone. Like, completely off, not just on silent. That little buzz is my kryptonite, I swear. I put it in a drawer in another room. Out of sight, out of mind, right?

Then, I shut down all the unnecessary tabs on my computer. You know how it goes – you start with one thing, then you’re suddenly 20 tabs deep in some random Wikipedia article about the history of spoons. Nope, not today. Closed them all. It felt… surprisingly liberating.

My Workspace, Cleared and Ready

Next, I actually cleaned my desk. It’s usually a disaster zone of papers, coffee cups, and random cables. I wiped it down, organized my pens (yes, I have a favorite pen), and made sure I had a clear space to * looks like new.

After that, I made a list. Not a fancy, detailed to-do list, just a simple one with the three most important things I needed to get done today. Just three things. That felt manageable.

  • Finish that blog post draft.
  • Work on the presentation slides.
  • Reply to those emails.

I also grabbed a big glass of water and some snacks – healthy ones, mostly. Trying to avoid the sugar crash later. Figured staying hydrated and fueled was important.

Finally, I just… started. I picked the first thing on my list and dived in. No procrastination, no excuses. It wasn’t easy at first, my brain kept wanting to wander, but I kept pulling myself back. And you know what? It actually worked. I got a ton done. It felt amazing.

So, yeah, “stop the games” – it’s a work in progress, but today was a good start. I’m definitely going to try to keep this up. Maybe tomorrow I’ll even add “meditate for 5 minutes” to the routine. Baby steps, right?
